'2D OR NOT 2D Animation Festival:

The Animaticus Foundation is proud to host its third annual '2D OR NOT 2D Animation Festival' at the Imax Theater in the Pacific Science Center, Seattle over the weekend of 14th & 15th November, 2008.

As last year the festival will offer open competition for animators of all persuasions... whether their work be 2D, 3D, Cut-out or Flash based... although it shows special interest in new and innovative 2D-animated work. The festival will therefore consider for exhibition and/or competition any form of animation that brings innovation, quality of execution and/or aesthetic beauty to the medium.

This year the festival is bigger and better than ever. Keynote speakers include Don Hahn (who is returning by by popular demand this year to present a unique collection of rarely seen Disney shorts as well as a workshop based on his new book, 'The Alchemy of Animation'); Director of Mulan, Barry Cook and Dean Yeagle (creator of the hugely popular Playboy cartoon character, 'Mandy'). Other major artists, Peter Moehrle and Geraldine Kovats will present their beautiful work on films such as 'Mulan', 'Ice Age 2' and 'Lilo and Stich'. Daniel Dociu, Chief Art Director at top games studio ArenaNet, will give a presentation of his fantastic work for 'Guild Wars' and amazing artist, Michel Gagne, will show the exciting work in progress from his new game creation, 'Insanely Twisted Puppet Planet'. Great events not to be missed!

In the competitive arena, awards were presented for 'best film' and 'best animation in a film' in each of the '2D', 'All-form', 'Student films' and 'Digital Media' categories.
